The project involved the removal and refilling of an 8,000 m³ rock stockpile to prepare for lining installation, followed by the detailed excavation of approximately 2 km of leachate and groundwater trenches through rock subgrade and clay base liner. A 0.9 m clay liner was successfully installed on the walls and base of the cell, covering a total area of 26,000 m², and the works were completed with the supply and installation of a 12,000-tonne gravel drainage layer, ensuring a fully functional lining and drainage system.
The project included bund wall remediation and the construction of an RRC pad and internal roads. Works also encompassed landfill cell construction, including excavation, groundwater and leachate infrastructure, and lining installation. Approximately 700,000 m³ of cut-to-fill was completed, along with the construction of 7,000 m³ of dams and the placement of a 20,000 m² base course to finalise the site works.
