Our Culture, Our Commitment

At Wearn, our culture isn’t written in a boardroom, it’s built on site, every day. Shaped by our people, strengthened through experience, and guided by clear standards that keep us safe, accountable and working as one team.

Developed by our people through leadership and management training, the Wearn Culture Playbook.
“Working with Wearn was a completely different experience from other contractors we’ve dealt with in the past. From day one, they took the time to understand our operational needs.”
Joe Creed
CEO, CAT

Our Culture Playbook

A culture built by our people.

The Wearn Culture Playbook was created by over 30 leaders and team members through structured management and leadership training.

It defines how we show up for each other, how we work safely, and how we make decisions, whether we’re on site, in the workshop, or in the office. This isn’t a poster on the wall.

It’s how we expect every person at Wearn to act, every day.

Wearn Standards

The standards that guide how we work.

Our culture is built around five clear standards. These standards apply to everyone, regardless of role or title.
1.
We Put Safety First - Always
• Safety is non-negotiable. We look after ourselves, our mates, and the communities we work in.
• We speak up if something isn’t safe
• We think before we act
• We follow procedures and never take shortcuts
• We don’t ignore issues or accept “that’s how it’s always been done”
• The behaviour you walk past is the behaviour you accept.
2.
We Are Honest and Transparent, with Strong Ethics
• We do the right thing, even when it’s hard.
• We own our mistakes
• We don’t cut corners or cover things up
• We share information and experience
• We hold ourselves to high standards of quality
• Trust is earned through honesty and accountability.
3.
We Treat Every Person With Respect
• Everyone deserves respect, on site, in meetings, and in everyday interactions.
• We listen to others and value different perspectives
• We give constructive feedback the right way, at the right time
• We support one another and call out unacceptable behaviour
• We don’t gossip, blame or criticise people publicly
Strong teams are built on respect.
4.
We Own Our Decisions and Solve Problems, Together
• When something goes wrong, we focus on solutions, not blame.
• We take responsibility for our actions
• We fix problems as a team
• We look for better ways of doing things
• We don’t make excuses or repeat the same mistakes
• Accountability drives improvement.
5.
We Communicate Clearly, Openly and Often
• Good communication keeps people safe and projects moving.
• We plan ahead and communicate early
• We share ideas and information openly
• We give and receive quality feedback
• If we can’t meet a commitment, we speak up early
• We don’t leave communication to the last minute.
