Pit 3, which commenced in 2023, has successfully removed 170 million litres of water, and currently, we have placed 300,000m³ of onsite material. The team is currently finalising the last 120,000m³ of the fill process using imported sandstone and onsite material. In total, 420,000m³ will be placed and compacted to the finish level.
Pit 2, where dewatering started in October 2023, has extracted 240 million litres of water using an 8-inch pump. So far, 300,000m³ of overburden has been removed, with 180,000m³ remaining. Additionally, 30,000m³ of material has been placed to date for the construction of the new ramp into the quarry to allow us to remove the remaining material.
Around 310,000m³ of overburden material has been processed to date onsite, which is required to meet our client’s fill specification for the rehabilitation of the quarries.
Progress continues steadily, with significant milestones achieved across all pits. The team remains focused on delivering the project efficiently and on schedule. Their dedication and hard work are greatly appreciated, and their efforts have been instrumental in driving this project forward.
